Traditional Breaky

Got two varieties of Frank Cooper Oxford Marmalade open at one time. Having 10 different jams and marmalades on the table to choose from is my ideal. Oooh the luxuries. And this is meant to be a time of saving pennies.

An organised typist.

Another little filing system which I love is this one which friends brought back from their U.S. Coast to Coast trip. Someone has lovingly typed up all the recipes they have come across. Written who the recipe is from, where they are from, ingredients, and instructions. My favourite is 'Tomato Soup' by 'Hurried Hostess, Anytown, USA' (see above). Makes me laugh so much, 'Anyone for bridge?' : )

Strangely organised

This is a little file I have been keeping, of all sorts of places. Whenever I go somewhere I try and remember to pick up a business card so that I can write it up in my filing system. I'm not actually organised but i like the idea of having a collection of places. Book shops, restaurants etc. 

Luncheon date

Today at work I went out for lunch in the park. It's so nice. Much nicer than sitting at my desk. I saw blue tits, coal tits, blackbird, long tailed tit, sparrows, and lots of different shaped dogs. I like grey hounds. I saw a miniature grey hound, unless maybe it was a puppy. I'm glad to be keeping to some of my new years resolutions. Also I made a super nice lunch with rosemary cake so that's two. Picture is of a Christmas lunch break.

Pencilcase please.

Daniel showed me this photo he took in a fenchurch shop window. It's a design he did for them a while ago and now it's turned up. I totally want one! there's a track suit top in the same pencil crayon pattern too.

Here in London

I got sent an email from a mailing list about this project. Pilot Publishing have created this funny little eco cafe in Gunpowder Park. They've got all sorts of events going on throughout spring including:

'February 14th Crititical Mass Food Search within 6 mile radius 10.00am - 3.00pm Meet at Energy Cafe with your bike, maps provided. Aim is to source as much locally grown food as possible, including wild food, and gather back at the cafe with findings to cook up a sunset dinner.'

Ice cold beauty

Had lots of post planned this week but didn't manage to do any. Oh well, hopefully I'll get some up over the weekend and next week. But for now I love these pictures by GrassDoe. Documenting such a simple, traditional and beautiful life style, leaves me wondering who is taking the pictures and where.......Scotland? Alaska?

Poloroid is going to be saved! A business man is going to save the company for the sake of art. Thank goodness! Also check out our caring business man's polaniod.net, apparently its the largest online poloroid gallery. I had a look and there's a tonne. Wow, he really loves poloroid.

New hobby: window bird watching

Today I found out that Redwings visit the park which I look onto from the office. They visit from Denmark for 5 weeks about this time of year. I'm so going to keep my eyes peeled. I've already seen a Goldcrest (my favourite) and a Jay. Thats two posts about seeing birds from windows.

The BFI now has a print store so that we can buy rare posters and such images online. This one was in their London Film Festival Archive for the 1965 festival.

Snail Mail

I mentioned that getting back into my old habits of being a dedicated pen-pal is one of my new years resolutions. I've been looking online at people who have a love for snail mail. Samara O'shea seems very dedicated. I'd like to read her book, For the Love of Letters. Also I love this book by Harriet Russell. It shows her illustrated encrypted envelopes that the nice people at Royal Mail had to work out, so as to know where to send each letter. Its fun and I like that she went to Glasgow Art School. It reminds me of living there and my friend in America sending me very fun packages. Picture from the envelope art project.

I make New Years Resolutions

I do this every year and I usually keep to them.

Here's my list: set tables and trays nice. take lunch breaks in the park. make nice packed lunches. Have friends over for dinner. Go on long weekends away. Write to people and stay in touch. Make January and February good months. Make photo albums. And there was one really boring one about being tidier. I like this list on cup of jo. I wasn't able to find much out about the traditions of these annual lists. Does anyone elso know much?

A few changes

I had a break from blogging for over three weeks. But a some what late Happy New Year to you all. I have made some changes to The Winter Entertainments Club. It isn't going to be a monthly club any more. It will now be one off events which everyone is welcome to. I now have a full time job at Lauderdale House and so I felt the monthly night was to much for me to manage on my own. Im feeling pleased about my decision, although a little sad, and I'm looking forward to seeing what happens over the coming year, what things I'll be arranging for everyone. In the past I've held a 'tea trail' (when a group of us walked to each others houses and had to host for an hour with tea and cakes), a treasure hunt (when everyone met in the park at dusk and had to bring a torch), and an easter egg hunt ( when we scrambles through Nunhead Cemetry in search of chocolate). So I know there will be some goodies. Please do let me know if you have any ideas of what you would fancy. I'll be posting on here about all the ideas and things that we'll be arranging but I also have a mailing list. If you wish to add your name to the mailing list send me an email.

For now I'll leave it at that and get back to writing about things that take my fancy and treasure I find.
